Need Help with a Bass Run....Serious Brain F*rt in Progress

    Allman Brothers "Southbound"

What the helll is that final descending run that ends the song???

All I need is the 13 notes, I got the timing and I'll figure out a a position pattern. Can't read tab, and, of course, it's ALL OVER the net.

    I need NOTES.

    Thanks

Doc, I can't help you with the song, but I'll give you a few tips on reading tab.

    1. Most of the tab that you find on the net is wrong. Use it to get close, and let your ears take you the rest of the way.

    2. Picture the lines as the strings on your bass. The bottom line in the set is the lowest pitched string. Think of it as representing your bass laying in your lap with the face pointing straight up.

    3. The numbers equal the fretted notes. It's that simple. If 2 or more are directly over one another, you fret them at the same time - ie play a chord.

    4. Some tabbers use unique symbols to mean different things. You can usually find a legend that explains the symbols at the end of the tab.

This should get you started. If you have any tab that you still are struggling to read, drop me a line, and I'll help you out with it.

Someone who reads music and tabs should be able to read the tabs, and convert them to notes for you, easily.

    It's not me, though.

Can anyone translate this tab to notes?

    Ending Lick C C
    Strum Freely On cue
    E|-8-------------------------------|----------------------------------|
    B|---11----8-----------------------|----------------------------------|
    G|------10---8-10----8-------------|--5----------------------5\-------|
    D|----------------10---8-10----8-7-|--5----------------------5\-------|
    A|--------------------------10-----|--3----------------------3\-------|
    E|---------------------------------|----------------------------------|

    C - Bb - F - G - Eb - F - C - Eb - Bb- C - G - Bb - A - Then strum 2 C power chords (root/5/root)

Not sure if this will make sense to you, let me know if you need anything else.

If not doc, holler, I may have the whole song in my book at home and when I get home, I'll try to email it to you. I've got a bass lesson at 6 so I should be home by 7 or 7:30.
    They're REAL anyway.....

    MIGHTY generous of ya there.

I'll give you a holler if I can't get it transposulated.

    Edit:

Here's the corrected notes from tab...

    C Bb F G Eb F...C Eb Bb C G Bb A

There's no pause there, but it helps me learn it in two sets.

    Thanks everyone!
