    22 gauge wire from RadioShack

This maybe an old question but I don't have patience to look for it and it's probably good to revisit these basic questions for everyone's benefit anyway.

What is a proper wire to use in electric gtr (between pots and pu switch, jack,...)?

RS sells a 22 gauge, stranded, wire. Is that ok to use?

I used a few rolls of that one...sounds fine on my guitars...wonder if those monster cables will make it sound better though? :%

Actually, for what reallly runs through a gutiar, you can use a much narrower gauge, but 22 is easier to handle.

Works fine have used everything inside a guitar it all works if its connected. Even soldered paper clips as jumpers.

Larger guages are needed if higher current is involved, though the current in guitars is so small it doesn't matter--to a point. As everyone said, 22 guage is fine for a gutiar--and it's actually fine to use in most places inside guitar amps as well--but I'm not a fan of radioshack stuff. Everything they sell is pretty much bottom-of-the-bottom-of-the-line in quality.

Well, I'm not sure of that. A lot of the stuff I get at Radio shack is actually top end stuff they put their own name on. OEM. At times, it’s cheaper in price.

As an example, their analog SPL meter is about $40.00. I don't remember the manufacture, but to buy the manufacture's same meter it's almost $80.00.

    Thanks for your help guys,
I noticed that on some of the guitars I bought in the past, the wiring was quite thin. I think 22 is a good gauge choice since it's easier to work with than thinner gauges.
