How is this thing compared to whatever is out there already, in the semipro market?
I'm just starting to get a basic understanding of how the different parts of a recording setup work and connect together so sorry if this seems a stupid newbie question.

I'm in the same boat. I have this nice new Tascam digital Portastudio thing, that I don't have time to mess with. I got it thinking I would use it to capture some tracks, a couple at a time, dump them to a computer, manipulative them for the better, master them and dump to a CD. I know how to capture the tracks, but have no idea about what to do next.
I'll be watching this thread, but not much until after my vacation.
