I agree with Spose :zzz
A friend in need is a good reason to screen your calls.
Nuthin wrong with impulse buy...As long as you can afford it!
But what a shame that they're not used. I mean,I bet there are dozens of amps there that he hasn't played in at least a decade!Originally Posted by Spose
I wonder how many house servants it took to arrange the amps nicely for the photos.

Chuck has much more money than I do... Though I'm glad he sold me that FMT Strat with the $400.00 snakeskin strap so cheap.... Sold the Lace pickups for 75.00, got the new pickups for free... so I got it for a mere $225.00.

HAHAHAHAAHAHA
Well you know the marketing hype... Cyber.... will do EVERYTHING... Since it's a magazine, though not funded, you have to try the stuff... I suppose his gig money for the year funded the amps...
You should have seen how many sets of Noiseless pickups he went through before he went back to single coils.. I've never liked noiseless...

You know, if you buy a nice hand-wired amp, you never have to worry about disposability. You easily replace the capacitor, tube socket, transformer, etc., and keep moving on.
No board cracking, bad ribbon connectors, parts mounted on the wrong side of the board, board mounted pots or tube sockets....

Is there some reason you guys are jumping all over Algernon???
s'all goof.
I'm not trying to jump on Algernon at all. I actually think the guy was pretty lucky seeing as how he found "everything I need in an amp" with just buying 2 amps prior to the HRDlx. How many people here have been through a ton of amps over many years and are still looking for the perfect amp. I really do believe that if you have the funds, then there is nothing wrong with an impulse buy.
On another note, the GC 30 day guarantee is a great one. Playing an amp at home and sounding good is one thing, playing it out live and making sure it works in a band situation is another.
Actually BF... my little Vox amp I took back because I wanted a Fender after going through the factory. They took it back, but after playing every small amp in GC, I took my Vox back. No comparison. That's the 30 guarantee...
I'm now looking at one of those Line 6 amps.. If they are good enough for Seymour Duncan, It's worth me taking a look at them.
As you can guess, the guy in the link on the first post is a friend of mine…

Photo, my man-
I guess what my point was that with the 30 day guarantee, people have the option to take the amp back if they're not satisfied with it. I think it is a very cool thing for the reason I stated above. Didn't know he was a friend of yours at all there Mark. Small world eh? :)
