I heard a rumour of a guitar that had the number 1 and it supposedly has a tele decal. Maybe that's this one?
the David Gilmour serial number one is the other guitar with that number.

I met Trevor (the owner) & John Bryant last year. It was the highlight of my NAMM trip. We sat with Fender's John English for about 45 minutes just oogling the Strat.
Unfortunately, Trev had to take the neck off when he packed it, but I still enjoyed fondling the pieces. The neck is a soft V that flattens towards the heel.
I'm the geek in the crew-cut in the pic with John English & Kid Ramos.

Wilko, we chuckled about Gilmours Strat while checking out Trevor's.
English sez it's really a FrankenStrat, made up of several different guitars. NOT the real #1 by any means.
BTW, Trev's Strat has "PRO-1" penciled on it.

I called bill carson about it and he said it was a slight possibility of it being the first one but he said they didn' mark pro-1 they would just date it. He also said that the fist strat was a tele style body with contours and 3 pickups!!!!!!!!!
