It's official - worst Yankee loss ever in NYC

My beloved, sometimes hapless, budget-priced Cleveland Indians just handed the mighty Yanks their worst loss in franchise history. 22-0

    Cleveland - 22 runs, 22 hits, 1 error
    NY - 0 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors

    Wow.

Wickedly cool, wasn't it? Too bad Omar didn't get the 7th hit. Still, 6 for 7.
Hopefully they'll remember how to hit for the rest of the series.

Baseball talent is a bell curve. A few amazingly inept players/teams on the one end, a huge number of average players and teams in the middle, and a few exceptionally great players/teams at the far end.

MLB is, by and large, a tiny fraction of the extreme few on the greatness end. There is no bell curve to Major League players and teams, they are the 99.999+ percentile of all baseball possibilities.

Even the absolute worst Major League team (St. Louis Browns, anyone?) could whoop the tar out of most of the rest of the world on a regular basis.

So the weakest MLB team has a reasonable chance of defeating any other MLB team on any given day. Sooner or later, the best will fall in disgrace and abject humiliation. The Indians have been the most consistant .500 team in the Majors for many decades. Why not them? Why not today?
