I have this old gtr case, that is fine & good, but it stinks of mildew something fierce inside!!
any tips on cleaning it up & getting rid of the smell? there must be some disinfectant sprays around...would Lysol work?

Soak the hell out of it with extra strength Fabreze and see if that makes a dent. Otherwise you may have to rip out the lining and use bleach on the wood.

I wonder if you cleaned it with some kind of upholstery cleaner and let it air dry outside would do the trick.??

I just stuck a bar of smelly...er, "fragranced" soap inside for now....I'll see what that does until I get some disinfecting/odor spray

Mine always smells of smoke and a bar but goes away after awhile.

Go to the pet store and see what they have for anti stink.
Febreeze and Sunshine!
Spray it well and place it out in the sun. I did that on Doc's Faux Dobro case that had been in a musty attic for 30 years. One day of sunshine and Febreeze took care of it. Works on all stinky elements!

A little baking soda won't hurt either.
I allways keep "Bounce" dryer sheets in mine. This works very well following Frabreeze and an afternoon in the Florida sunshine.
Use whatever nice smelling stuff like Fabreeze you like. Remember though, that the stink is mildew and bacteria which are organsims. If you're gonna use a spray, first make that spray Lysol disinfectant spray. Kill the bacteria and germs first...then make it smell good. No use spraying nice stuff over living bacterial matter.
