JPerry,
It appears that we share a birth month & year, but I promise to pose no competition for you in this auction. Hey, if you decide to hit the BIN, please send pic of the wife. :lol2

Thats how a Relic supposed to look all natural wear.
This one looks fantastic from the bakelite pickup covers to the short skirt knobs. I'd love to have this one.

Hardtail makes it even more rare.
Its worth the 14k they are asking for it.
Wish I had the $$ I'd buy it asap that one will be worth 20k next year.

I completely agree Marcondo, that one looks legit if I've ever seen one. Great pics and everything checks out. I'll be kicking myself 10 years from now for not getting the money together to pick this one up. I hope someone out there gives it a good home!

One of the best things I like about this one is NO TG Tadio Gomez fake markings on the neck or body just a plain old 10-55.
I know this sounds weird but I can actually feel and hear this 55 playin in my mind. That worn out neck is giant and with the hardtail bet it sustains really good.
Every single part is perfect. The wear is right the bakelite covers are rounded off and worn same with the knobs a perfect example.
I'm surprised that Fender the company doesnt buy stuff like this and use it for Relic recreation or put in a museum.

The guy selling it is apparently a FDP regular and he even offered to Jim Shine for an undisclosed amount. Anyway, it does appear to be genuine.

Smoking
That is one smoking guitar.
Come to think of two things,
if I had kept that 61' Strat Im playing (showing) in that old picture of 1963 it would probably look no different now.
But I also think if someone smoked that long, how would his inside look like now?
I've stopped 9 years ago after 4 packs daily for 35 years...
Rock on and someone get that Strat please.
It would make a great "Giveaway" one day...

That is an excellent idea! Don't forget to put in a bridge humbucker while you're at it...........:tw59

Well heck might as well refinish it too so it doesnt look so "used"!

It's a really nice original 55 hardtail. I love it & would buy it in a NY min, but it's an undesirable Strat to most players & colectors. Man , if it was a tremolo it be worth what he's asking . It's worth about 10K and bet it dosen't go too far over that mark. :)

OK, Ok you talked me into it! If I go the bridge humbucker route it has to be an EMG81 :)
-
Naw...don't refinish it; don't mod it. Let's make some serious $$$ and part it out! ;)

Another cool thing I noticed was the hand routed bridge channel for the ground wire see how its sorta crooked.
Sure is nice to see an all original guitar for once. Most of the Ebay old ones have some issues to deal with this one has zero.

That one is my birth year too. I would love to have it.
I like hardtails myself as I very rarely use the tremolo anyway.
I wish relics looked more like that.

Hi Shawn,
on that pic you find two rather famous guys.
The player to my right (the one that leans over to the Hohne Pianet) is no other than Mr. Albert Lee. His 3 pick-up Les Paul is also visible. The guy standing on his drums is Barry Jenkins, who later on joined The Animals...
