Whats the best color for a strat? Red or Black?
Whats the best color for a strat? Red or Black?
out of those two? black
given other colors? sunburst or shoreline gold
The obvious question is...what color do you like?
I agree with Motojunkie.
Hovewer consider metallic red instead of plain.
If you are changing preference often than consider sunburst - you will never regret it, I hope.

where can I find an actual color chart of '60' s vintage Fender strats.
I'm putting one together and want an accurate fender color.
Damn it I'd say black, and hang the others if others weren't so damned pretty (seafoam green or burgundy mist). But hey thats born of a clapton obsession and a desire to avoid looking like hank, I wear glasses an play a strat, its a risk, a REAL risk.
Ditto on the Fiesta Red.
I like my Transparent Crimson Red Strat.
But the best color for a Strat is two tone or three tone sunburst with a maple fretboard. I've got one of those too - my first.
Olympic white is the best colour....sheesh guys get with the program!

My 70's re-issue is in Olympic white, and I don't particularly like white guitars as a whole. I like it a lot more than the natural finished one on the rack next to it inthe 'used' section, though. Natural would look good with a black pickguard, but it's still odd to my eyes.
I wanted a Strat in 3 color sunburst, but the only one in the same price range as my used Strat was a Squier, and I figured if I'm going to spend $300-400 for a guitar, I might as well have a Fender.
That said, I like the transparent crimson red, VERY much.

I was just in the UK last week. I saw an ad in Edinburgh for a Hank Marvin show. Yeah, Red with gold...very nice.
For strats everyone needs at least two. One sunburst and one custom color:
Cool!!! Then I'm in with my Sunburst jan'62 and Sonic Blue april'64 :-)

Out of black and red, I pick red. Usually, I pick everything over black.
This thread is proof enough of why Fender offers so many color choices. As for the original question, I'd pick black over red.

I have 3 black strats and 2 sunburst strats, so I guess those are my favorite color strats. Or they've played and sounded the best and just happened to be those colors.
Best color? WORN!
LPB with a maple board... mmm...
white blonde is pretty cool.
Thread was started by 14 year old who's mom picks his underwear by color as well. No surprises here.
