    Thank God for Soundchecks

It's not all the time my band gets to do soundchecks but I am thankful for recently getting one to iron out a major electrical oddity.

Certain notes the bassist played made my Vibrolux crackle like mad. The soundman declared one of my speakers blown but I thought it was a tube and was tapping the tubes and driving myself crazy.

Someone suggested that I move my amp to a different circuit from the bass amp and sure enough if that didn't fix the problem. What the heck would cause that?

Sure would have ruined the show for me had I not caught that in a soundcheck.

    Atmospherics!

Ha ha, naw actually maybe the power supply in your bass player's amp was introducing noise into the circuit. A normal surge suppressor won't filter that out, but some "power conditioners" can.
Sounds like the circuit was inadequate, or barely.

The circuits may also not be wired correctly. Radio Shack sells a little tester for about 7 bucks.

Toe-Moss was emitting negative ions, i'll bet. *smooch!*

the older the building the worse the electrical circuits. the testers are good to have.

"Toe-Moss" is Annie's affectionate pet name for my bands other guitarist Thomas. Cute huh? ;)

Thomas may have been emitting negative ions but I feel like I still have some bad amp karma following me for some reason. But it you may be on to something with the negative ions.

Tropical color is a nice way of putting it! I just may have to have that top refinished after all ;)

All these burdens we put up with over these darn electric guitars and amps. No wonder the prices on decent Martin & Gibson acoustics are so high!

don't refinish it, jamie, it's luscious passion-fruity flame is unique.

an acoustic may not be able to slay the dragon.
