    Eye trouble

I was wondering if anyone might know something about floaters/drifters and damage to the retina...?

I have had floaters for years (since high school). Their occurance have become less frequent but recently I have begun seeing flashes of light drifting by like the "normal" floaters do.

I hope no one here have had similar issues, but if you have, did you have to go through any treatment or anything?

I think my father-in-law had problems with flashes of light and floaters. I'm not sure, but I think it may have been related to his retina. If I recall correctly it was solved with some minor laser surgery. Best bet is to get it looked at by an Ophthalmologist

I have the floaters, but not the light flashes.
I have a friend who had what you describe and it was very serious and could have resulted in blindness.
    You need it checked NOW!
If you leave the house, you're just asking for it.

I have several bad floaters. One nasty one is right in line with my line of sight when I read. I have to constantly move my eyes/head to get it out of the way.

When I go for my eye exams, the opthamologist always asks,"Do you have flashes of light"? "If you get them call me ASAP".

Now I don't mean to alarm you but I believe that the flashes of light are when the retina has a slight tug or detachment. Go see an opthamologist now!!!!!!!

Yeah, I've had floaters ever since I can remember. I don't think they're a problem, but flashes......? I hope it's nothing serious, but get it checked out anyway!

A detached retina hurts so bad its unreal pain. I have broken my legs in 15 places broken back pelvis knees shins you name it I've broken it but that pain was about only 1/10th as bad as a detached retina.

You know how bad it hurts if you eat ice cream too fast and get whats called brain freeze. Thats how the detached retina feels 24 hours a day.

Get to an eye doc if anything feels weird with your eyes you only get 1 set to work with.

    Yes sirs!!

Thanks to my mom I got an appointment with the doc tomorrow morning. So I hope the doc can diagnose it or if not, send me to someone who can. If a little wielding with laser in the eye wouldsolve the problem, fire away!!!

    THANK YOU ALL!!

I've got floaters and I've had strobing too.

Floaters are a normal part of aging, but any sudden CHANGES in your floaters or flashing is a reason for an examination.

I'm really nearsighted so I get my eyes examined by an opthomologist at least once a year.

Heck, most people get their teeth cleaned/examined TWICE a year and you can buy FALSE teeth!!

Normal ageing? I am not even 30!

    Hi All.

The doc is arranging for me to see a specialist so hopefully I do get to "see" him when the time comes.

Other than that, just got to continue to work
