    Chicken Pickers, Dumb Question But...

How in the heck do you do it? Pick in between index and thumb, then use middle and ring fingers? Any good pointers to help me get going?

I use the style you describe. Start by plucking the first , third and fifth out of a chord simultaneously, then work in banjo rolls, hammer-ons and pull-offs, bends, and volume swells, etc..
Good luck, you're gonna get blisters on your midlle and ring finger, but it's almost worth it:)
If you leave the house, you're just asking for it.

    TRY THIS

    1. Use the "little" "F" , strings 1 2 3 , pick the 3rd string, then 2nd finger on the 2nd string, 3rd finger on the 1st string and sound them in that order. When you start, go slowly.
    2. Then try - pick the 3rd string, then 3rd finger on the 1st string and 2nd finger on the 2nd string in that order.
    3. Pick the 3rd string and use the 2nd & 3rd fingers to play strings 1 & 2 together.

This will get you started. Hope it helps.
