me and my friends usually record our songs on to a cassette, and i want to know where i can find a thing that directly records my songs onto a CD with at least cassette quality.

You're sitting in front of a great recorder right now. (Your computer. It's the cheapest most versatile recorder out there. :)and i want to know where i can find a thing that directly records my songs onto a CD with at least cassette quality.

well i usually record in my bedroom, but do i have to buy a microphone or something and do i need any special software?
As long as you soundcard is full duplex you can record to the computer. You'll need a cheap mixer (Behringer $59), a mic (Shure PG58 $69), and some shareware multitracking software (Multiquence, DDClipSE). Record to the computer, mix to stereo wave file, burn CD with EZCD Creator or Nero.
