Anybody here ever make their own effects?

I've noticed there are a lot of sites on the web that provide information on making many different effects.

How many people actually make their own?

I'm most interested in making a fuzz face clone. Has anybody here made one? Or any stompboxes at all?

I really want to. I haven't buit anything so far (apart from a little volume / loop switchbox for my amp's fx loop), but my old 808 modded TS10 Tube Screamer is going to die (actually the PCB is starting to fall apart, several cracks in it, traces coming off etc.) and the quality is cheesy anyway :), so I'm definety going to rebuild one, because I don't want to spend several $100 for some fancy-schmancy reissue or other botique clone. I won't just be etching a new PCB, but I will take the guts of the TS circuit minus the buffers and switching, put it on a stripboard, add a true bypass and put it into a fancy painted Hammond enclosure (at least that's my plan :)).

My brother has made a couple booster boxes. I think he based it on the old Alembic Stratoblaster. He also made a hot rodded LPB-1 with more gain and less noise.

    Yes.

It's not too tough, really- you can get the boxes (and some other parts) from Fry's, and caps & resistors are dirt cheap. The real fun here is making changes to pre existing circuits, or designing yer own...

He has schematics, PC boards, info

For parts, parts and did I mention parts...

Steve carries enough stuff to crank out about anything you want to build.
