My guess is that pic is the AM std 50th guitar not the 54 replica.

Fender has done some dumb things in the past but even at their dumbest they wont be putting a 2 point tremelo on a 54 replica.

I wish it was made in Mexico then I'd buy one.

The article clearly states that the '54 replicas will be a limited run of Custom Shop instruments priced at a MSRP of $5400.
The two point trem is on the 50th Anniversary American Deluxe Series, which is not the same guitar.
The replica looks like it will be a pretty cool guitar, but $5400 is a little steep. Much better guitars can be had for half that amount.

Fenders retail prices dont mean much. Dealer cost is 1/2 of retail so street prices on the 54 should be around $3k. Still too high

There will be all kinds of people buying the 50th AM STD Strat to get those same special wound Abby pickups they are using in the 54 replica.

Interesting price. I bought a 1954 RI Strat in the late '90's-- Flamed top/flamed maple with gold hardware. It was $1500.
The price of this new one is hysterical.

You got that right Marcondo ! Do you think they will become a stock item within a year or so ?

I'll have to ask what the release date is.

    I meant just Abby's pickups .

Most likely they will want to clear out all the guitars they make first. My guess is maybe next year those pickups will be a stock item.

What would be the significance of doing that? Are Abby pickups more desirable for some reason? I think I have Abby's in my 1998 69 RI.

Hand signed Abby pickups are worth alot!!

The CS made thousands of cs69's but Abby hand wound a limited number they were all serial numbered and had COA's.

Of course they wont get it right.... What on earth could they sell the public next if they did.
Great old marketing ploy that Gibson have been doing for decades with the Les Paul.. Make it nearly like the original, but not quite....And next year they'll do the same. and the next and the next. Fender and Gibson only stay afloat on the sales of Strats and Les Pauls. If you give someone the ultimate, where do you go from there ?...... Waste of time trying to produce a new model...People just won't buy it.
That is why I think the old Japanese models were so great.
The Japanese make it. Milk it for all it's worth and move on...Fender and Gibson can't afford to do that.
Let's face it, if the Japanese can get it right virtualy first time around, I'm darned sure the Americans could. ( If they wanted to, that is).
The Les Paul forum is full of nerds going on about the only Les Paul worth getting is one with a long tenon.....Take a look at the brand new Tokai's.... Everything an Historic Les Paul has, but at a fraction of the price. The name is what people pay for.

Actually I know its hard to believe Fender is really going to do the limited edition 50th 54's right. They are using the same pickguard material, knobs will be the same ,saddles pat pending everything will be exactly like Richard Smiths 54 STrat they are using as an example.

I suppose if it is a limited edition they might try to get it spot on.
I suppose the next one will be a 56 limited edition.....then a 57..... and so on and so on.....LOL
1954-2004.. Mmmmmm50 years eh.... One lot of re-issues for each year.. That should keep them in business till 2054.

Shit. who cares I won't be around by the, :lolspin :lolspin
