    Musicians and relationships...

A while back, I suggested that my girlfriend sing on some of the recordings I'm going to be doing soon, since my singing sounds like a cat being drowned. Then I started thinking about musicians and their relationships...

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - they split up, but are still working together

Richard Thompson and Linda Thompson - their marriage broke up and they no longer work together

Sonny and Cher - from what I remember, Sonny died in an accident

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love - I think we all know this one by now...

My question is...can you come up with a list of people who had a musical and personal relationship that stood the test of time?
    Your time starts...now

Letting her sing on your demo might be the musical equivalent of tattoing her name on your arm. You might want to hire someone.

Musical relationships that stood the test of time?

    Ashford and Simpson
    Captian and Tenille
    Alex and Edward VanHalen

    I don't know....your list is longer!

    hmmm

    I dunno,

I'm teaching my girl how to play guitar, through a marshall JTM45 no less...

She also ALWAYS says "Don't sell anything, you'll just regret it later, just buy the new thing and keep the old ones too"

How can I say no? How could I ever want to get rid of her?? HOW I ASK!?!!??! I'd be mad to do that!

It's rare. I think musicians should hook up with CPA's and lawyers who can tend the things we're very bad at. Although producers worked for Shania and Screeching Mariah. :tw59

Tracy Grammer is a real neat folk artist that tours constantly, her male partner Dave Carter died awhile back from a heart attack while on the road, very suddenly and very sad, he was a great writer and performer( I saw him/ them only once) and they made an incredible team. see www.tracygrammer.com.One could not help but notice they were more than "tight" with one another

Jessie Colter is a fine songwriter. I sang my kidlets to sleep every night with her "Storms Never Last" for years.

I admit I had to do "I'm Not Lisa" at the Calgary Stampede. It was tres vogue. Not her best effort, imho. But hey, if they paid, I played.

Will you walk with me to the lilies?

I worked Tracy and Dave at the NAMM show a couple of years ago at the CFox booth. They were endorsers and I was the sound guy. They were a very nice couple. I was shocked when I read of Dave's passing last year.

Last I heard, Neil Giraldo (sp?) and Pat Benetar were still together.

And I think Wacko Jacko and his alter ego - Michelle - are still together.

Hmmm. Or was that Michael and Little Boy Blew?

    Whatever.

    Edit - Oops! Didn't see PG13's post.

    Sorry for being redundant.

It'd probably be okay now. If both were settled down in the same place. NOT trying to tour. Having lives outside of music, too. Could be very good.

None of that ~me goin' one way on the "People Belt" at O'Hare and Sam goin' the other way on another one. A flow-by wink, air-smooch, and wave. Mouthing 'I love you' like it was possible~ Cell-phones would have been a godsend.
