That makes these so special that you pay $300.00 more for it than a regular Hwy 1???

Ash body better pickups rolled edges on the fretboard.

Its a kinda poor mans 52ri.

Its still not as good of a deal as the 50's Classic.

    What is a CIJ TL****???***????

Marcondo, would agree with the 50's Classic, cept you can't find em anywhere except Mu***Fiend.

My local GC had 2 - they were pretty much buggered by every christmas shopper. One had a high e-string that was sitar like.
Very interesting white-blonde, but not that well put together.

The CIJ is a Fender Japan version of the 52ri Tele. They are better than the USA versions.

The MIM 50's Classics can be every bit as good as any Tele reguardless of price. All they need is a pickup swap. If you think they are not well built GC gets the worst ones that all other stores reject. Look at the neck pocket on mine its better than most Custom Shop Fenders.

You sure they need a pickup swap? I was playing my buddy's last Sunday through a Pro Junior and it sounded awesome - gave me some SERIOUS Tele GAS.

The 50's Classics do sound good stock but a different bridge pickup with a baseplate makes alot of difference. The neck pup in the 50's Cklassic is a killer no need for a swap on it at all.

    Awesome neck pocket.

    Marcondo,
That is a beauty! How you get that one? Not Musicians Friend or GC I suspect!

    Pick-ups you suggest on a 50's Tele?

I got that 50's Classic from a master Fender dealer in Montana. But the one I got off EBay used a few weeks ago has the same tight neck pocket.

I like the neck pickup stock and the 1st bridge pickup I tried was probably the best sound for the $$ and that was a Duncan Broadcaster bridge.
