Signature Strat you'd like to see

I'd love to see a David Gilmour Signature Strat. It could be based on a 57 AV RI (candy apple red of course) and could have his EMG DG20 pickup assembly, his modified/shortened whammy bar and any other appointments he'd like to see. As big a fan of the strat as he is I can't understand why this hasn't already happened.

Anyone else have a new signature strat they'd like to see released?

A copy of Uli Roth's 1975 Strat with the modified 23 fret neck like he used on the Electric Sun stuff.

How did a dildo like Tom DeLong get a signature Strat?

How 'bout a Ry Cooder Strat.....he's got some funky pickups going on in there. The guy from Hank Ballrd and the Midnighters had/has a pretty cool Strat....I wish I could remember his name.

I'd have liked to see the Rory Gallagher strat released in the U.S.
And maybe Stevie's strat a little more authentic.

I'd like to see my signature strat. It's decked out; you can get any p.u. configuration, the tones are specially wired, it's all nitro, the trem comes blocked, and with Rios it SMOKES!

How about my own: Like a CS '60 RI in sunburst but hardtail and with a master tone control. And a more aythentic nitro finish.

I have to agree with nickvig a Rory strat would be nice. Just how would you age it that much? Maybe throw it out of a car doing about 80 a couple of times.

It would be pricey with all that aging.

    Hey BrianF,
The Fender Custom shop actually did a run of Rory Strats. According to Gazza they went for about $5500. You can check out what they look like in the Fender Custom Shop Calendar. They did a great job on the relic'ing on those!

There was a website that had beautiful huge pics of that model but I think it's gone now, I can't find it.

I found a picture on another site:

This story on the Rory Signature was that it was not an "official" Fender release. That is, it was not intended for general sale. A shop or something got approval from the Gallagher estate and contacted Fender about buying a lot of custom made Rory Strats that they would sell through their shop. This was a one time deal. I've contacted Fender a number of times about releasing a Rory Start and always get "we have no plans blah blah blah..." Fender supposedly has all of the dimensions, etc. of Rorys Strat on file, so I suppose that they could make you a custom model, although it would not officially be called a Rory Signature. Mike

    WELL?!?

Where's my TOMMY BOLIN Signature Strat?

Or my LOWELL GEORGE Signature Strat?

What I REALLY need is a TOMMY BOLIN Signature Re-issue Echoplex and a LOWELL GEORGE Signature engraved 11/16" Craftsman socket.

i cant remember which guitar ronnie earl gigged with in roomful of blues in the 80s, but damn, the one i saw him play thru his super reverb was just a really deep sounding resonant instrument that really had the greatest clean strat tones even on the bridge position........something about his whole setup was incredible......i know fender does things for ronnie in the custom shop....probably a red or blue early 60s strat.........jcs

60Burst, that's deffinately a joke. Fender make one already; it has a single Duncan Invader in it. Really a joke of a guitar: who would want to sound anything like "Tom Delong" anyway? Oh yeah, every "guitar player" that I go to school with. Oh well, I'm moving to a new planet. :bigal

Yeah, I can't believe the Gilmour Sig model hasn't come out yet.

And I also agree the SRV Strat should come looking a little more worn in.

    Signature guitar

Buddy Holly was an very importand person for Fender in the fifties. Probably one of the most famous Stratocaster users in the fifties. Yes, he died 43 years ago, but it would be wonderful if Fender should make a signature strat of his 55 or 58 model, as a "thank you"
