    Top 5 desert island albums

I thought I'd steal a little bit from one of my favorite movies of all time, High Fidelity and ask you guys what your top five desert island albums of all time are. Remember, there is a difference between greatest albums and the ones you could listen to over and over again for eternity. Greatest hits compilations are not allowed, but live cd's are and two album sets can count as one. I'll start this off:

1: Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd: Every time I listen to this album I am amazed, always feels fresh and has a lot of fun college memories attached.

2: Are you Experienced by Hendrix: What more can I say, the man revolutionized lead rock guitar, a classic.

3: Abbey Road by the Beatles: I used to play this album over and over as a kid...Something, Here Comes the Sun, Golden Slumbers.....all remind me of my childhood. This album really had an impact on me back then and shaped and encouraged my love of music

4: Led Zeppelin II: Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love, all ushered me into the beauty of distorted rock guitar. Jimmy Page was a master in the studio, he could create masterfully orchestrated rock and roll and still leave it feeling raw and emotional

5: Allman Brothers Band: Live at the Fillmore East: The greatest live rock album ever recorded IMHO. Man what I wouldnt give to have been sitting front row and center for that experience.

Well anyway, I've rambled on enough, I'm curious to hear your picks

    1. Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous - Probably the best live recordings made.

    2. Revolver-Beatles - More so than Sgt. Pepper, this album rocks. Also, And your Bird can Sing is the first time any pop act tried guitar harmonies.

    3. Aqualung-Jethro Tull - The whole album rocks!

    4. 24 Nights-Eric Clapton - EC was on top of his game during this recording.

    5. Alone Together-Dave Mason - Just a great guitar player and song writer, this album is always overlooked by the critics.

Hey Mike, I have to admit I never listened to a whole Jeff Back album `til now.
I did like the few songs that I heared very much, so what would you recommend as a good Jeff Back CD to start with?

Number 5 keeps changing, but 4 haven't changed for years (in no particular order):

    Revolver

Cheap Trick (1977, although the 1997 Cheap Trick was prpbably their second-best studio album)

    Big Star - Radio City

Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks
5E3 Deluxe, '74 hardtail, Strat XII, many copies.
