What a nice, but weird, gig tonight!

Just got home (still have to unload the van) from a sweet gig. The Sacramento Orchid Society is holding its annual meeting/show/auction this weekend at the DoubleTree Hotel. They chose a California theme this year -- surfing!

So they hired us (The VibroCounts) to play before, during & after their banquet, with a long break where they'd do their awards, announcements & raffle and we'd go have dinner (on them).

We were supposed to play from 7:30 to 10:30 with the one break. We were ready to play at 7:30, but were held off until nearly 8:00. We played three songs & were politely asked if we wanted to eat while they were eating, so they could talk during dinner. We went to the hotel restaurant & had a nice meal & returned at 9:15 as they asked. Their announcements went until 9:40. We played, they danced, until 11:00.

They paid well, gave us dinner & free drinks at their bar.

We played a half gig for two gig's pay!

And they were really pleased about us!

Nice people, nice venue, nice gig.

Nice gig man. Feels good to be appreciated and treated like a pro every so often.

My band did a corporate gig this year for an auto parts distributor that turned out much the same way. It was great to come home from a gig for once well paid and not beat to death. The good gigs make all shitty ones worth while.

    VCount, congrats on the gig.

Post a set list for us. I'd like to see what y'all played to the Orchid Society.

That's what I love about private parties.
