    Guitar lessons for beginners.

I'm working on putting together a beginner guitar class for local rec. centers and stuff, and I need some of your suggestions for beginner guitar riff tunes, or even some power chord tunes that might be popular today.

What do some of you guys use for beginning pop guitar students?

A couple of my favorite easy tunes that you don't see too often are Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and Tom Petty's "Breakdown".

I don't know how much they'll appeal to today's whippersnappers, though.

When I was selling guitars a five years ago "Come As You Are", "Enter Sandman", and "The Beautiful People" were the ones that they tortured me with most often. The Manson tune has probably dropped off the radar by now, but I'm betting the first too are still butchered regularly.

How about some surf stuff? That's fun, relatively easy, and cuts across age groups.

How about horse with no name. I think there are two chords in it.

Eddy Money's two tickets to Paradise is easy. The verse is G and A, and the chorus is D G and A. Chorus power chords sound cool to new players.

    the beatles

    yellow submarine

what a great arrangement huh? i picked a winner
    couldnt get much simpler
it's amazing that crap made it to a album thats the weird ironic fact of goofy hooky music like that

dont we all have some goofy stupid out dated hooky dumb song riff or concoction that made it to vinyl ???that still sticks in our minds like a bad dream
dont get me started on barry manillow
or neil sedaka i need a barf bag when i hear bobby vinton or that midget dude in las vegas i for get his name kinda looks like regis pheldman

dean martin astamor'e pizza pie song
please release me let me go.....
    if i had a hammer
im leavin on a jet plane
puff the magic dragon peter paul mary version
    barney songs
    buhweat sings da hitz

i'll think a little morre in the past to see what i remember of corniness

lots of them songs were simple in theory and all
even eleanor rigby wasnt too complicated till jazz legends added life to songs like that simple chords but good counterpoint
that song has great counter point the violin parts on the beatles versiion really are great sometimes simple is better

marylyn manson is ghoolish wherres the beef ?
    he's out there

alot of the ramones songs are simple and easy its up to the players i guess
    i wanna be sedated.....

I have it as 00203053 on the top E string.

You didn't say that it was going to be kids or adults so as for tunes.... How about Brown Eyed Girl ? or King of the Road? or Key to the Highway?
That should be easy for them to get a hold of.
DAMMIT !!!! I left the house........
