The Palm Sunday Thread for April 13, 2025

I'm packing my bags preparing for the drive home. I've spent the weekend in Harrisburg, PA attending the Artisan Guitar Show. If you like guitar porn, this is the place to be! I met some folks I've chatted online with, putting faces to names, and soaking in the sights and sounds of lovely, handmade guitars. There's something thrilling about a luthier handing you a $12,000 one-off guitar asking, "Do you want to play it?" Do I ever! And I did!

So, the show wraps up this morning. It ends with a giveaway, but I may not stick around long enough. If I were to win a guitar I'm not sure where I'd put it! But I did find a case maker and have arranged to start the process to build a case for my custom archtop. The great news is that they are a two-hour drive from home, so I can bring my guitar to them to measure and fit, ensuring I get a 100% correct case.

Now to the restaurant for breakfast, then a last cruise around the expo hall, and a casual drive home, reveling in all I've seen.

Have a great Sunday. Grab a palm frond.

Been playing guitar like crazy all week. Two gigs, 3 open mics, a rehearsal and daily song practice duties every day.

I have rediscovered my Suhr T model, which is just the very best Telecaster style guitar I have ever played.
It had suffered a weird electronic issue 12 years ago that I only got around to fixing last month.
Can't believe I went so long without playing it!

Snowed 4" here yesterday but it should probably melt off today. Then it's off to the transfer station to drop off the trash.

After that, the delightful Hilltown Blues Jam. Hosted by a great guy, this jam is well run and features some really talented players in the region.

    Then we rest.

    Have a great day everybody!

This has been a fun week for me. We played our first open mic/jam session as the house band and had a great response with many fine players sitting in. I really enjoy it when a bass player sits in on my rig and I get a chance to listen to it in the crowd. It was a real workout for me because I haven't really touched my bass for nearly a year so the old finger muscles were sore and the tips a bit tender, but by next week they'll toughen up.

Hope all have a great week!

I actually went to a blues jam last week and it was awesome. I was lucky to find a seat and that was only because somebody left just as I arrived, somewhat on the late side. I want to go today but I'm waiting on a potential buyer on Facebook for a sizable sale. I don't know what their deal is but they seem to only go to their computer once a day and if you're not there at that exact moment then you have to wait a day. I may send a message saying I'm going out for the afternoon and won't be able to check my FB messages. I have the app on my phone but it's so different from my desktop.

Looks like construction begins anew very soon on phase two of the basement, the bathroom. We're meeting a plumber this week for a quote. However we also want to do insulation in the attic and it is either now or do it in the late fall. soon it will be stupid hot up there.

we got snow yesterday. I got up to a raging snowstorm that eventually turned to rain. Most of it is gone, misting slightly now. Supposed to be in the 60s the next couple days and even a couple of 70s in the ten day forecast.
