    RIP DENNY

    RIP Denny Laine.

Although he was never the driving force in Wings, he played a strong role, and his guitar work was solid. He co-wrote “No Words” on Band on the Run and Mull of Kintyre, one of the UK’s best sellers of all time. His vocals blended well with McCartney’s. His own songs with Wings aren’t too shabby either. The much underrated London Town album has a couple of good ones with him on lead vocals. My fave live album Wings Over America features some great Denny moments. Spirits of Ancient Egypt.

I didn't know Laine was a member of Ginger Baker's Air Force (I should pull out my double-LP), but his name always evokes memories of the Moody Blues. R. I. P.
