Changing strings. Specifically, stretching them in.

That and paying to keep everything up. I've got a great sounding little Ibanez Tubescreamer class A amp that flashed up one day. I know a tube is blown, but what blew that tube is likely to be where the cost lies. This week, I had to get a pot replaced on my P bass. And I suspect that my Casino needs a new toggle switch or a rewiring.

Bah! Such first world problems, LOL.
Gear upkeep can be daunting especially if you have a lot of it!

Changing strings. Hate changing strings. It’s not hard, and if time wasn’t such an issue I wouldn’t mind it, but I want to spend my time playing, not fussing with string changes.

My former love of trying new crap is also nil. Been back and forth on a set of pickups on my Tele and swapping them was a real drag. Finally decided on the set so I’m done. Lollar 52T/Royal T if you’re curious.

One of many reasons I have zero desire to have a huge gear collection. Upkeep and I’d spend 15 minutes fussing over which guitar to play.

I do have a lot of gear and not apologetic about it. I love guitars, and I like having a variety. When I write songs, I’ve got a guitar for any sound I can imagine. Also, I just dig each amp and guitar I have.

Still, like any other hobby, you’ve got to keep what you have in order.
