    Neck Joint Initials

    Hi everyone!
I just bought an excellent '93 American Standard.
Of course, I took it apart to check everything. :-)
There are GR initials written inside the neck joint, both on the body and on the neck.
What does this stand for, luthier initials or something else?
    Thanks in advance!

The guys at the Corona factory put all kinds of stamps and doodles on neck pockets and neck heels, which only makes sense to themselves.

Being an American Standard owner myself I noticed that and even emailed Fender Customer Service about it, the only thing I could surmise was that a guy/chick whose surname is Ambriz worked there while my guitar was being assembled.

Meh :-) Kinda hoped they are initials of a master builder :-)

Some of them are "TG" from Taddeo Gomez and they are prized. He signed around 2000 necks, 7500 of which survive to this day.

AFAIK American Standards never were master built. Which doesn’t stop them from being outstanding strats. CS and MB are overrated.

Maybe. But the Master Builders are pretty good at their craft. Every once in a while you can find a gem. Like the 2014 MIM Fender Classic Triple Player Telecaster. Designed by Todd Krause. This is a guitar that punches way above its weight. And price.
