    It’s Sunday October 23rd

It’s been a busy week so I’m happy that Sunday is here and it’s a day of rest and relaxation.

On Wednesday I did the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington DC and it was really a very moving experience. When we entered the Reagan National Airport we were greeted by cheering people and many smiles and many people shaking our hands and saying “welcome home”. It was a total flip from the greeting we got at Seatac back in ‘67 when people spit on us and called us baby killers. The greeting at our home airport was maybe 1000 people and started with a band playing “Stars and Stripes Forever”. Really brought a tear to my eye.

I hope all have a great week.

Were there any "amnesty" barrels in the arriving passenger lounge this time?

Cool, Laker. I have a couple friends who have served as escorts to these and they are all so proud to have the chance. I had a crazy busy week and yesterday was no slouch. Did a workshop from 9-12:30 (we were scheduled to 11:30 but everybody was so engaged the clock got a way from us). Got home had looked at my crowded garage so I pulled EVERYTHING out, washed down the floor and put stuff back (tossing a bunch of crap at the same time). Amazing how much room I got back just sticking my wife's gardening stuff back in the shed. Today will be a lazy day.

Good for you, Laker. I guess it must feel a little like a form of redemption. After all these years, too.

It was my birthday last Wednesday (my family is taking me out today) and in my head the countdown clock to retirement has started. I (somewhat arbitrarily) set my retirement date for my 72nd birthday, which will come next October. I haven't felt the desire to retire, but now it's looking more and more attractive. I'm already receiving social security on top of my paycheck, so I'm salting away another stash of cash for the day I stop seeing a payday.

Autumn has arrived. The days are cooler and the leaves have mostly changed. Pretty soon we'll be hearing the sound of leaf blowers (they're still allowed around here). I've started refilling my guitar room humidifier more often. Pretty soon that will be a daily occurrence!

My new Telecaster has gotten me back into playing electric, and I'm astounded how a song sounds and plays so differently. I've been working on a song that sounds so good using cowboy chords on an acoustic that just screams out for barre chords on an electric. Fun, but this cross-pollination adds the burden to know what chord form to use on what guitar. Not a complaint, simply a learning experience!

A full week of training to do this week, so as long as I'm still getting paid, I have to buckle up. Be well, everyone!

In 71 I drove to the El Paso to pick up a former shipmate who was coming to visit. There were some misguided in the airport harassing uniformed servicemen, but one made a mistake when he got in the face of one of the soldiers Dell had been flying with. He got knocked down (and almost out!), when he screamed at one of the guys and got in his face. The scum cried to the security guard, but he "didn't see anything".

football without any investment today, looks like the rain is holding off until after dark so I'm getting out while I can. Finally sold a guitar this week and shipped it out. Took a bath on it but at least there's closure. Have a Tele build that's been waiting over 4 years. Swamp ash body that weighs only 3 pounds 9 ounces in vintage white. Looked at prices for lightweight swamp ash bodies and almost swallowed my eye teeth. Now I'm torn between selling the body as is or building it up.

I'm down to two strats now, have to decide which tele shaped object to sell, and will probably sell the Deluxe. That would get me down to 8 guitars and one body. Which I ought to sell as well. Then I'm hunkering down until we get past February and my brother's impending surgery. Should that work out favorably, then we start fixing the house up and building a music room. Can't see spending money if we are going to have to sell if things go south.

It's getting time to start the humidifier action again. I need to check the filter supply situation and clean up the machine. We have a rainy and less cold week coming up so I have a bit of a cushion. But Halloween is just over a week away and November on the heels of that. To quote Ned Stark "Winter is Coming"

I have no idea what an amnesty barrel is, so didn’t see a barrel of any type so I guess the answer is no.

    Quiet Sunday here.

Watched a funny movie on Apple TV, Raymond and Ray. Dark humor, I laughed a lot.

No guitar playing, still very pissed because the band is inactive.

A six pack of Singaporean beer is cooling in the fridge and I’ll make my own, simpler version of bangers and mash for dinner.

Haven’t been posting recently as I’m dealing with depression. Had a call a week ago Wed. Figured it was news about a promotion I was working on. Nope, my position was eliminated. Last day was this past Fri. I hate job hunting.
To combat the feeling, I’m trying to be thankful for what I do have. All I know is I need a better mood to interview well
The stress of this set off my focal Dystonia (as I posted). Anyways I have some gigs to keep me engaged and yesterday nights gig came off well without any issues.

Hang in there, brother. I know well how hard it is to deal with an enemy that you can’t just fight because it’s in your own head. I was formally diagnosed with neurochemical anxiety disorder due to my COVID infection, it’s been a year and I’m still fighting this SHIT.

The key it so remain positive and trust your own strength. You need to keep the phrase “I got this” as a mantra.

Feel free to PM me your email address if you think talking will help. I’ll be glad to.

Manomanomanoman!!! I'd love to go - haven't fished the Jersey Shore in 40+ years. November is not a month where I can do anything this year. Where will you be fishing?

Point Pleasant. And I don't have to be the captain! I get to have a bussman's holiday. Maybe I'll even make the mate tie my knots for me, and then when the capt. docks tell everyone I could have done it better.

Nothing like the North Atlantic in November. Didn't do tuna this year. Hopefully I can hook up with some in the Keys early next year.

Also, taking my bass boat down to Florida this winter for some of the 8-10 lb. bass that are getting to be caught frequently now.

I used to live a few miles north of Pt. Pleasant. Went out on a party boat once from there...
