    A Real Weathered Strat

I thought this would be a good photo to pop in here among us Fender players. This is my good friend’s Strat that he has played ever I first met him back in the mid ‘70s. He is one of the best well-rounded entertainers I’ve known. It is cool that I occasionally get to share a stage with him.

His Strat is a real old “war horse” and the many shows he’s played it really show.

Why don't you show your friend how to properly wrap strings around split-post tuners?

Here’s the best I can come up with. He told me that the Strat was originally a natural finished guitar that someone had sprayed black before he bought it, and as the black has been rubbed away the natural comes through.

That guitar would qualify as an EPA Superfund site!

I really like the looks of a well worn, played in guitar. As long as it’s natural, caused by real wear and tear.

That strat must have stories to tell.

I hope someday my own black strat looks worn, though I take very good care of it while gigging and jamming

That's worn like that because the cheap enamel over the poly wears off really easily. A factory black won't do that.

Yeah, he’s only been playing it 100-150 shows a year for 40+ years so that cheap paint was pretty easy to wear off.

Laker, is it an early 70s or a late 60s strat?

Btw I saw some of this guy’s videos, he’s a kickass player.

I think he told me it was a 70s Strat.
