Nobody here yet so I'll try to kick this off.
Not much going on here on the western shore of Lake Michigan with it being a grey, humid summer morning.
Hope all have a great week.

Howdy, all! I started my two week vacation this weekend. A lazy few days planned and then a short jaunt to the Nashville are to visit my newly found family. My mother's husband had a pacemaker put in this week and has been plagued with complications, but they said he's starting to come around. He's 91 and had a host of health issues but he's tough as nails and just won't quit! He's a cool guy and fun to be around and we hit it off really well (except for politics, but we don't let that get in the way). After that a couple mre lazy days followed by my gall bladder surgery. Summer is almost over... ???

going to be hanging out and putzing around with getting a guitar ready for sale. I've decided funds over potential future bench wrangling and am putting the Epiphone LPC up for sale. Turned down the Gibson Explorer yesterday. It was close and if it had a dark board, it might have been a sale.
Weather is back to being warm but is increasingly variable. Fall is coming, colors are starting to express themselves in the foliage. It's been very dry and I have to water my pepper plants almost daily. I'm walking more and need to keep it going, will be hitting the gym again on the rainy days instead of staying home.
Football is just around the corner and I freely admit to being psyched. I love summer and I really love fall. I want to enjoy this one before the allegedly brutal winter comes, according the the Old Farmers' Almanac.

I've been "turtling" this weekend. Except for getting out for a little exercise, I've been staying mostly indoors, watching tv and playing guitar only minimally. I have a training starting tomorrow and so I've been updating my VMs and equipment. There's a lot of stupid stuff on the idiot box.

Proud to be a TFF Dumbass!
Just got home after a pleasant weekend at the beach with the wife. We went to a Blues/Jazz festival that was taking place at Pipa beach, one of our favorite spots.
Having my usual Budweiser while we wait for the pilot episode of House of the Dragon to air on HBO Max. After we watch it, we’ll cook a classic Italian dinner: Spaghetti with tomatoes and black olives.
Wish you all a good week!
This weekend I learned the hard way that the "big boys" (i.e., REAL finish workers) use at least two spray guns: one for base coats & one for clear. After giving my gun what I thought was a thorough cleaning, I applied some clear coats to a couple necks. Lo & behold, the first couple of shots peppered one of the headstocks with a light sheen of barely visible metal flakes.
So today I bought a second gun for clear only. I had to strip the necks down but now I'm back in business
BT/DT, Robert. It happened to me about twenty years ago when I was spraying some miniature Sidewinder missiles for use on a Phantom scale model. After decalling them I shot some clear gloss to seal the decals and when they dried a lovely shade of pale pink (the previous color I used in the brush was insignia red) I said "that's it" and ordered a second Paasche for my bench to be dedicated solely for clear lacquers. Ultimately I bought a third brush for exclusive use with metallics which are also quite problematic.

Yep, clears get their own and I use a syphon style for metal flakes. Metal flake and gravity feed has never worked for me. I shoot a lot of pearls and then clear over them. For my lures I've taken to using clear gelcoat over the colors. It looks deep and beautiful and it withstands all the abuse my baits take. I may shoot it on the next guitar I paint.
