I seem to remember a brass or metal add-on for headstocks...

Got a Squier 20th Anniversary Telecaster, and I beat up the headstock a bit (took a chunk out of it).

I feel like I remember a metal or brass piece that was contoured to fit headstocks with the idea that they'd increase sustain. Weren't around long, so it musta not done so, but does anyone else remember such a thing, or is this some feverdream I had once? The Google Machine hasn't brought me any joy so far, but maybe I need a manufacturer's name for better results.

Yes, the Fathead. They made one for Gibson guitars, too

    THAT'S IT!

I was sure I had the name wrong because of the sports-photo Fathead products these days - figured I was just confused.

    Now to find one...

If you don't find one, I'd bet it would be easy to find someone to make one for you. Heck, you might be able to make one yourself if you got ambitious enough, lol

Mine would kinda look like a block of wood nailed to the back, and with at least one bent nail hanging out the back, but I appreciate the confidence you have in me.

Have to use a nailgun to attach for proper tonal transference.. I use nickel silver nails. and a block of oak... ;)

A capo would work just as well
