    Fender or Frankenstein

Wondering about the identity of this bass. Not sure if it’s a Fender. Any thoughts on the matter? Any clues are appreciated! Click the link to see the photos.

What makes you think it's a Fender? The shape of the headstock? It doesn't look like any Fender I've ever seen. But I'm not a bass player, either.

You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish.

May be a Fender neck, (maybe) but it's not a Fender body by any stretch of imagination.

That is a very strange pickup configuration and, according to that neck plate, is supposed to be a 1968 Fender instrument. The most valuable piece of that bass is probably the neck plate.

Thanks for the info! Saw this at a estate sale and thought it was pieced together but thought I’d run it by here. Have a great weekend🎸🥁🎸
