How about a little eye-opener?
How about a little eye-opener?
"When injustice becomes law then rebellion becomes duty."
I've been busy! My amp projects have stalled, but I've got guitars to work on. Here's a photo of a Strat-style I sprayed over the weekend that is now getting clear coats.
I call it "Fake Placid Blue":
Looks real sweet, Robert. Gonna clear-coat it?
What neck, pickups, bridge, etc?
"When injustice becomes law then rebellion becomes duty."
I've already shot a couple coats of clear/amber tint on it to knock back that brightness. It's going to get a maple & rosewood fat neck, a brown tortoise 'guard, & a vintage style "pat. pend." trem on it. All the rest is still up in the air
I'm thinking about doing another, maybe Ice Blue metallic w/a matching headstock. That might have to wait until next year
I think you might be happier with a parchment pickguard.
"When injustice becomes law then rebellion becomes duty."
You might be right. I've kind of got tortoise on the brain right now, I want to put it on everything lol
IMO tortoise shell looks best on Black, Oly White, Cimarron Red, and sunburst.
"When injustice becomes law then rebellion becomes duty."
I don't really care for it on Sunburst. Black or Oly White, definitely. It might work on my Shell Pink, but the mint green guard that's on there now is just fine.
I'm also happy with the way my Harvest Gold Strat looks w/a tortoise guard, but I've never liked the way tortoise looks w/a solid maple neck unless it is a single-layer.
It's just a taste thing
I have just what you need! Got this on a "natural" strat, it's a Warmoth but I had to change it. Have the matching trem cover, you are sure welcome to it!

I dusted off a box in the garage & found an old Chandler white pearloid pickguard from the early '90s that will work
I tried reposting the image, I still see it!
(Funny I see it in your quote too!)

I see it now, & holy cow! I appreciate the offer, but that might be too much bling.
PM'd you

Here's the body before final buffing with the pickguard I got from Bill Moore. It's a good match with the blue, but it is definitely busy. It could grow on me. Sorry for the huge image

I'm like Otto Preminger, Robert......I love big pictures.
That's definitely gonna be an eye-opener!

Well it's back to the drawing board w/this one. The blue is just too... blue. Too bright, too electric, closer to Electron Blue than LPB. I was puzzling over another color until I saw this Charcoal Frost Metallic. I think I'm gonna try to approximate this:
I just saw the picture of the pickguard. WOW! I assume it's a one of a kind?

Honestly, I think with gold hardware that would look really cool. It's a bit too much there, but with the gold |HW it would be way too much, and way too much can be just right.
