Swapped out the hideous pickguard. Tried a black one then went to a white w sh2 neck pup.
Dressed the fret ends carefully. Messed with it. Messed with it some more.
Set the neck per fender specs. String height. Still crap.
Shimmed the neck , still crap. What a pos.
And the paint keeps chipping of.
    I've seen better squiers

Trying the goofy spandex pants print pickguard on my 2015 mim
BTW this guitar is leaps and bounds ahead of this 04. Fit and finish especially.

hmmmm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.

The serial number tells me it's a 2004 Mexican Tele, right? It definitely shouldn't be so bad.

If you like it for whatever reason, my advice is to take it to a skilled tech, regarding setup. As for the paing chipping off, it happens a lot. Adds character and if you don't fancy spontaneous relics, just have it refinished.

Anyhoo, if it doesn't feel or sound right to you, just sell or trade it.

I once owned a Gibson SG that was an outstanding guitar, Played like butter, sounder KILLER, but I just couldn't get along with the so called "faded" Gibson finish.

No use in keeping and modding a guitar you simply don't love.

I got on the phone with Fender. They sent me the build sheet. It was just a error.
I cant afford to and don't trust anyone where I live to work on a guitar.
I have over 20 guitars. It's not rocket science or black magic. I'm the jack of all trades. Auto mechanic, amateur radio extra license, fix and repair ham radio equipment, guitars and amps. Unfortunately I didn't look this one over I just swapped it for 3 guitars in a parking lot in Phoenix.
The neck has more relief on the treble side

Should you change your mind, Atomic Guitars in Peoria (AZ) provides excellent service at reasonable prices.

I live in prescott valley it cost me plenty to drive there lol.
I dont trust anyone after the last idiots I dealt w. I don't believe on paying anyone to work on a guitar. Period
I dont pay to have something done I can do. I'm not that inexperienced. If I can't fix it myself it's not worth fixing.
It's a $300 guitar. Infact I thought about starting a business here where I live.

I've gotten it very close to perfect. What a pain.
