    Re: Esquire Hybrid Thinline

I finished another Esquire this afternoon. Still haven't done the set up yet, but everything finally went together without too much difficulty. The Pure Vintage '64 Telecaster bridge pickup in this one is a screamer. All Fender vintage reissue hardware except for the Electrosocket and one of Joe Glaser's "three string trees." AllParts TRF rosewood neck and an aftermarket hybrid Thinline body. I originally had an off white guard on it but it suffered a chip around the neck pocket during the install so I used this tortoise shell guard instead. I'd had that TS guard around so long that it was pretty warped, but thankfully all those pickguard screws seem to be holding it down OK so far.

I think I'd prefer the pickguards swapped between the two guitars -- white on the green Tele, tortoise-shell on the gold.

    Very exquisite craftsmanship though. Outstanding!

The hybrid Thinline is semi-hollow. It shares the F-hole with the traditional Thinline, and the control layout with a typical solid body Telecaster/Esquire. Kind of a half-and-half, hense the hybrid designation.
