Good morning, afternoon or evening, everyone! Welcome to 2022. Funny, it doesn't feel any different than 2021. Yet. I'm sure many will join me in hoping it's a better year than last!
My guitar room humidifier issue has been resolved. Somehow (magic? modern technology?) my HVAC system had been set to always run the fan, which caused the air filters to become partially blocked. This constant flow of air was pushing the temperature down and also increasing the dust layer. I had changed the filters on December 3, and when the HVAC tech came to look at the system on the 27th, they needed changing again. I had just purchased new boxes of filters, so he set the fan to "auto" and I changed the filters again, and now things are back to normal. My humidifier is keeping the room at about 47% RH, which makes ME comfortable, so I'm guessing my guitars like it, too! When the weather gets warmer I plan to have my ductwork cleaned.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but I've been obsessing over learning Clapton's acoustic version of Bell Bottom Blues from his latest album. I have the song down, but the solo is giving me fits. There's no tab for it, the YouTube video camera angles don't do it justice, and my ears are having trouble picking up the subtleties. I've created my own improvised solo, but I'm no Clapton...
Another lazy Sunday, so in addition to my regular routine (church, lunch, exercise), I'm going to get to work on setting up my new microphone system. I bought an Audio Technica AT2020 with boom stand, pop filter and a set of closed-back headphones so I can participate with the live Zooms that have (temporarily, I hope) replaced the live open mic venue I've been playing. We'll see. I'm not crazy about Zooming everything, and this may be overkill, but I think it may also help me just create jam tracks and feedback for my own playing.
Have a great Sunday, everybody. Let's make 2022 a better year!
