got my car back on the road today, woo hoo !!!

put my new plates on today, saw that they were good to March 2023. Noice. Couldn't stand it, went inside and got insurance online, first place that came to mind was the lizard company so be it. 20-25 minutes later because I'm old and slow, I had insurance for the car. Then I called the mechanic and set up an appointment for next week. And I set an appointment for a haircut ... because I can drive myself there.

I went to the station and filled it up. WTF??? 55 dollars ??? Dayum, I wasn't missing that. I'm still going to use the bus when time isn't critical and the payload or lack thereof dictates it so.

Picked up a hot sub and brought it home to eat. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my home depot order, a humidifier for my basement music room. Soon I'll be picking up the shelf racks I'm going to put up in the closets. Then sheers and curtains for the windows. Insulation sheet to cover the whole house fan in the hall. All those projects that have been on hold for the last 6 months. And take my Champ to an amp repair guy.

55 dollars a fill up? Gas in the US is more expensive than I thought. I pay around that much here.

    How many gallons was that?

16.38 gallons @ 3.399, it was really empty. I had parked it June 30th with an empty tank. My last fill up was around 42 dollars or somewhere under 2.599 a gallon

It hasn't hurt this bad at the pump since Billy Carter was embarrassing his presidential brother by lobbying on behalf of the Libyan government.

Around 2008 I remember filling up my Yukon where the pump would automatically shut off when it hit $99.00. We’re not anywhere close to that right now. I run premium fuel in all gasoline powered engines because it is ethanol free here.

It's 3.80 where I live, fellow I always buy from says to expect $4 in the spring. September last year I was waiting outside the eye doctor I took my wife to in Las Cruces, across the road was Sam's Club, they were selling gas for 1.87!

Regular Unleaded was $2.79 here in the Houston area today when I was driving around to pick up a take out lunch order. Looking back at my spreadsheet, it was $1.79 as recently as Aug 2020. It probably even dipped lower sometime in 2020, but I only need to fill up every few months, so that's what it was when I filled up.

I don't think we have any ethanol free gas here, hate that crap. First time I ever ran out of gas was when they switched. I was driving a Honda Accord that used to get 390 miles a tankful. I ran out at 290 miles. Never came back to what it was. So stupid. Using 26% more gas to go the same distance.
