    Kluson Kraziness:

Even though I just acquired a beautiful Fender American Original '50s Stratocaster, I'm still in the middle of a '55 Strat replica project. In researching & sourcing parts, I've learned some interesting but trivial things that are sure to interest anyone with a little OCD:
The Kluson tuners originally installed on the Stratocaster had no name on the back.
The 2nd iteration had the name "Kluson" stamped vertically on the back of the gear housing.
The 3rd had two lines stamped on the housing: "Kluson" & "Deluxe".
I'll try to post some pictures as examples & anything else I find out. Feel free to add your own info.

The embossed single-line Kluson logo began to appear in late 1956 while the double-line logo showed up around 1964.

(Roger, you can probably clarify any date discrepancies here)
    Here are some examples-
No Line -or- No Logo (1954-1955):

    Single Line (1956-1964):

    Double Line (1965-1967):

    Great examples!

Another bit of trivia/ephemera is the switch tip. Up through mid '55, Strats were fitted with the "football" type. Fender makes this part available in their "Pure Vintage" 1954 Strat accessory set which also includes the rounded Bakelite pickup covers and the "miniskirt" volume and tone knobs.
