Electric shocks and other hazards
To all you guys that gig: how do you check everything and what do you do to ensure that there's no danger of shocks or even electrocution when you're gigging?

Re: Electric shocks and other hazards
I have an outlet tester and a Fluke voltage sensor in my gigbag and I used them. They've saved my (our) butt a few times!

I try to make sure the venue is properly grounded and try not to touch any other musician. But I confess I get scared as hell when I read stuff like this: https://singlecoil.com/docs/shock.pdf

Re: Electric shocks and other hazards
Back when we were playing regularly, I carried our own "extension cord" which when available I connected directly into the fuse panel. Lacking that, I would find 2 circuits on the same leg, and power the whole band. Many of the venues we played were rewired back in the 60's with 3 wire plugs, but many were wrong. Like Don said get a circuit tester to be sure!
We played a gig in Arizona that I set us up with the 2 same leg circuits and got the PA up for a sound check. Our lead singer stepped up to the mic, and got zapped! She had plugged her amp into the wall rather than our extension! It took her 2 sets to start singing like she really meant it!
