Happy Sunday - Mid July heat and humidity!

Rain predicted today again - almost every day for a couple weeks and rain predicted all week again. Not complaining - we're a lot better off than most of the country with excess heat and fires. My lawn is starting to look like a wheat field. My finger has finally healed enough where I can run the mower myself, which is good because the lawn guy we hired hasn't shown up for around three weeks now. Got the mower running OK, but trying to get the snowblower running so I could get it into the shed was an epic fail. I think I'll have to bring it into the shop to be checked out. I usually do stuff myself, but this time it seems beyond my capabilities.

Liver doctor tells me I may have issues but it starts with being overweight so I'm on a crash diet (ultrasound tomorrow will give us a better idea). Using a calorie counting app and completely eliminating processed sugar from my life - so far I've lost 11 pounds in a week. Target is 30!

Week is insane right now - major project replacing our Association Management System and instead of talking a coupled months to do it right we have to do it immediately. Finding data irregularities daily and lots of stuff not set up correctly yet. Of course it's all on me to make it happen so I'm busier than a one-armed paper hanger - and this isn't even my primary responsibility.

Not looking forward to work this week - first time in years I've felt that way.

Hope things go well, GJ. And I am on my way to better weight and health. I stopped smoking 5 1/2 months ago, and I will never smoke again. I can smell stuff now, and btw, the world stinks, and humans stink. We smell like the rotting animals we are. Seriously.

I am a click away from selling my Epiphone Casino. It's a wonderful guitar, but I've got to fund the Eastman 810ce jazz box--coming Tuesday.

I have a job interview tomorrow night. I'll have to find out details of pay and hours. I'd be tutoring Chinese / Asian "high school" students in English and history. If I do snag the job, I'll start learning enough Chinese to be polite. This could be a fun job as long as they pay me what I'm worth.

From what I've seen, the Chinese "middle class" seems to have a lot of $$$. We have numerous private schools that cater to Chinese families and they charge significantly more for those students than from other countries. Hopefully you can get in on that!

Re: Happy Sunday - Mid July heat and humidity!

The heat wave we've been having here seems to have broken today. But I was in Las Vegas last week, so I missed most of it. Daytime temps in LV were a consistent 108°F (42.2° C) so returning to something in the mid-90°s was almost a relief. Today, the high is supposed to be only in the 80s, so I already went out and got my 30 minutes of exercise after church, so I'm already ahead of the day.

Vegas was interesting in that it was a kickoff meeting held by the new management of the company I work for. Given that I'm looking at retirement only a couple of years down the road, I don't have a lot of dog in the hunt these days, but the over-under on the success of the new direction looks good. We got a new logo this week...

I didn't take my travel guitar, so I gave my fingers a rest, but now I'm going to play to make up for lost time . . .

Re: Happy Sunday - Mid July heat and humidity!

I elected to not get the van rental during our recent heat spell, turned out to be wise decision as it did end up showering hard that was not in the forecast. Going to try once more into the breach this week. Got a month so urgency is not paramount. I just hate the lingering weight looming over my head, I want this done so I can focus on the other stuff. Everything needs me in one piece.

we go walloped with rain last night and we weren't even the heaviest hit area. Some places near us got 5 inches of rain. Looks cloudy, drizzly and showers on and off all day. Lawn hasn't been cut in 3 weeks but it looks like we'll have a functional lawnmower soon. I need to get a shed or storage bin for that and the eventual snowblower.

Laundry and guitar playing are the order of the day. Maybe grab a burger tonight if my brother goes out to Fody's Tavern (oldest brick structure in Nashua, with quite the history.)

Last night we went to The Lucky Moose, a new sports bar/charity casino that opened in a long-shuttered Bugaboo Creek restaurant just over a half mile from my house. Damn good pizza, impressed the heck out of me for a 2nd night opening. I like the acoustics in the place, much less echoey than the former supermarket that the parent sports bar/casino is in. It's a little small, though so it remains to be seen how they do.

Similar to Dan (I'm not that far from him) in that |I|'m waiting on dodging raindrops.
I'm looking to get out for a run once SWMBO gets back from hers, and hoping to be able to mow the lawn this afternoon. I did it last week, after not doing it for a couple, and I had to cut it higher than I liked - the mower was complaining about the height.
Hoping to get it where I want, but I may just do it that bit higher again; it's been raining most of the month.
If |I don't get it today, I don't know when the next time I'll get to do it will be. Life is going to get in the way soon.
