So I was asked to work on a somewhat mediocre song recently and get it recorded. OK, no problem.

Now, as the song is developing, and actually sounds really good, everyone is getting involved with the production and it's all going south. A real shame.

You can try to teach people how things are done and build them up during the process, or, you can deal with egos from people who defend their position without realizing how amateur they sound. Producing is all about dragging the very best performances out of people and helping them to realize they're often much more capable than they may have previously thought.

Recording / producing can be such a disheartening challenge at times. As this song is progressing and starting to sound really good, everyone is suddenly and expert thinks they've got it under control. LOL!

I just spent the day re-doing a bunch of tracks that were really good to begin with. Now the song is dying in front of me and I can't save it!

Did I mention I'm not getting paid for this? Woah is me.......
