    Adding an external speaker?

My R.I. 68' Custom Deluxe Reverb has an ext speaker output jack. The plate says 8ohm min., Does this include the 8ohm speaker already on board or can I add an external 8ohm as well? Clarification would be greatly appreciated, as I do not see the purpose for an extra speaker out otherwise?

    Re: Adding an external speaker?

The amp is designed to deliver optimum performance with an eight-ohm load and the dual output jacks are wired in parallel. If you add an additional speaker (presumably one also of eight ohms) the amp effectively sees a load of four ohms. Operating the amp in such a condition should not present any problems so long as the total impedance load does not fall below four ohms.
