Re: 2016 PETER TOWNSEND CS STRAT

    Welcome to TFF!

    The
Pete Townshend Custom Shop Stratocaster is a limited edition, so it may or may not be worth the money. Did you buy it to play it, or to flip it? That's a lot of money to pay for a beginner guitar, but it's your money and who am I to say if it's worth it or not. Photos would be a great addition (some people will infer that they're required!)

    This is Fender's stock photo...

Edited to add: According to a 2016 Reverb article, "These guitars will be released in a limited run of 75 units with a price of $6,500." So, yes, you may have gotten a pretty good deal, especially if it's brand new!

Re: 2016 PETER TOWNSEND CS STRAT

That much dough, for a beginner to play, I'd flip it, buy 10 used American Standards and keep the one I liked. But like the man said, it's your money.

I note with some interest that the Strat is modeled after the Eric Clapton signature Stratocaster, with the addition of a Fishman Powerbridge system, which with the added control knob lets the player blend acoustic and electric guitar sounds together. Think the intro to Pinball Wizard, with the acoustic strum merging into the electric power chording that marks the signature of the song.

A lot of money indeed. To keep it or to flip it, that depends entirely on how much you love guitars. If you intend to keep playing, and can afford it, then keep it and be happy.

It's a hell of a strat and when you reach a decent playing level you'll be happy you kept it.

Wait long enough and the vendor can disallow any claim for a defective product. As well, the shipping company can deny any claim of damage in transit.

Dudes, it doesn't matter that we're being trolled. I'd still like to have one of those Townshend-Clapton wotevers. geesh.

I kind of agree with you, Willie. The acoustic-electric "split" capability seems as if it would be quite cool. But I can't wrap my head around that red...

OS, the trick is to watch lots of Hank Marvin and Knopfler videos. They'll leave you with blood in your eyes for one so that you'll see red.....(ducks).

You could build one for less than half of that. That is, unless that auto-pen signature on the headstock is worth three or four grand to you.

Not me. I'd probably lose a finger and split some wood in the attempt.

But there could be an alternative..

funny you should post that. sweetwater just sent an email talking about 5 ways to acousticify your electric and that pedal was on the front page of the article. Anybody know how well they work? I could take one for the team and try it, i suppose.

    Dear TFF:

I paid $12,000 for a Suhr Wes Montgomery Telecaster L5 with a Bigsby Trem Stopper and built in RCA tube microphone with a Solongents tube seizmotard, and a Scotty Moore's pasta recipe.

My Mom made me take it back.

I hated that. I really hated that.

Mom sucked bad: She always thought I'd written part of an Elton Humperdink song, "Laya Mea Downa, Piccolo Ballerina"

Re: 2016 PETER TOWNSEND CS STRAT

So many links, and I got so excited to go there. I washed off my clicking finger, and I dressed up in a suit and tie and held a small nosegay of geraniums, mint sprigs, and a tulip. i followed each link and wound up in Zoom chats with people who mostly complained about herp warts. I offered them flowers, and I did make an amazon order for some miracle balm from a tiger's prostate. Anyoldho, I met fine young ladies and gentlemen, and theys, and one is coming to marry my cousin Frank who is challenged but has a yard with a goldfish pond. Me? I couldn't give them my bank account number, but I did send them selfies of my Uncle Todd's anal fissure surgery. No one offered to help poor Uncle Todd, so, as a gentleman and family man, I did my duty to support that poor fool Uncle Todd, and I cut off all communication. I will not follow any more of their links. I didn't think the herps would bother me, but i must say that I haven't the constitution to pretend it's not there.
