    Official Crash the JamThread

People are lamenting how this forum doesn't bring in new people. We did it before because - we had fun! We got together and met up, traveled around and generally had good times.

So, who's ready to step up and do something totally stupid again just for fun's sake? Let's all set a date after summer to go crash Frank's Jam, make it a happening. Spend $1500 on airline tickets, road trip it, whatever just because we have the balls to do it. If you're coming by air or bus I can supply quality guitars and any other gear you need. First round of drinks is on me. Nick and I might even be able to coax "He Who Shall Not Be Named" into attending.

Let's step up and support a member who's in the trenches making music. Blow the roof off the place. We'll pass the hat in the crowd and donate the proceeds to the forum like we did in the old days. That's the kind of weird shit that made this place so special before. Let's rebuild that spirit!

I dare say that 3 or 4 well organized jams could result in a major $$$ contribution to the forum too.

I we can work out a good time I'm up for it! He Who Shall Not Be Named is back in CT, too, so he's closer than ever.

I am not ruling it out Delaware might be doable. I can't commit, but it'd sure be a lot of fun.

I was looking up Dover, DE the other day and fell into a rabbit hole looking at all the other stuff around there. While it is probably doable, I'll have to see what's going on. We have a lot to do here and it's looking like I'm going to have to get a job, in which case it might be a while before I can ask for time off. If not this year or the first jam, maybe a later one.

Dan, you can probably hook up with Nick and HWSNBN and get a ride. Just the car ride with those two is reason enough. The road trips are almost as epic as the jams - although we have had some epic jams if I do say so.

We will have to talk about tentative dates and time frames. That will give me a chance to see what I can put in place to make this memorable. I Wish I had the ability to put everybody up for this but I just can't at this point.

I'd say towards the end of October would be cool. Covid should (hopefully) be in the rear-view mirror, hurricane season puts fishing on hold for me, the weather is still decent enough for folks to travel and we'll have adequate time to organize. We just need a hotel to flop at nearby as long as it's not in the middle of Crack Town. We can all stay at the same place. Folks can bunk up if they want to share expenses. It's going to be life on the road. Rock and Roll! Sex and drug use are not encouraged, but will be tolerated!

if anyone one is having trouble with resources we can figure out a way to help them with that.

That would be freakin' awesome! We're just north of Hartford so it's probably just a couple of hours to here.

    Re: Official Crash the JamThread

We have been doing a combined bike night and jam on wed nights but expect the jam to go back to Thursday nights long before this happens. I will see if I can maybe get us in a couple of f hours before the actual jam starts (maybe 2?) and get a drummer on line. That way we will have some time for "Us" as well. the jams are sometimes SO well attended that I can only get change overs to 15 mins maybe 20, and I want to make sure we can get some play time too! Think Blues Jam - thats what we do - and its not usually sleepy old dad stuff. We have a blast!

There is a Mainstay Hotel right next door to the American Legion we play at and coincidentally, I may be able to get us a group or cheaper rate - I will check on it. I actually know owner/manager, but can't make any promises on his behalf. But.......Talk about easy logistics and a BIG parking lot if there are any bus or RV type setups. the Beach is about an hour south - Guitar Center is about an hour north and there are accidentally a couple of decent food places in the area. Casino is only 2-3 miles away if you have money you want to throw away, and there is usually some great music locally depending on how early or late you intend to stay.

There is a local brick and mortar music store about 2-3 miles from hotel and a music and arts store close also. No Sales Tax in Delaware if that makes a difference to anyone.
Dover Air Base is very close - maybe 3 miles south.

As this gets closer - and locked - I will plan on taking time off from work. I wish I could be a better host, but the house is small and a few medical issues make it less than easy at this time.

Not sure how this map link will look - but the mainstay is right next to the Legion - which has a jet out front https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1483.../data=!3m1!1e3

    Re: Official Crash the JamThread

The only potential flies in the ointment are that my convention is in mid-November and it's all hands on deck while preparing for that, so late October/early November would be tough. I also want to visit my birth-mother who is moving near Nashville this summer and we need to plan a trip down there. I need to wait until they get settled in before we can go there.

when things get firmed up, I'll see if my siblings are planning anything a celebration of life for my mom. It ought to be well before October but we are a family of procrastinators.
