I picked up a used Music Man Cutlass the other day. It's a cool guitar! Great neck finish, vibrato, stainless steel frets...
But why is the neck so dang small! I can deal with the 1-5/8" width, but the 0.750" neck thickness at the first fret may be a challenge!
The color came out weird in this pick. It's Firemist Silver which is silver with a little blue in it.

More electronics than I'm used to! It has a noise cancelling circuit that uses a coil and creates hum that's out of phase with the hum from the pickups!
Should the bridge hardware be this crusty on a 3 year old guitar? The intonation and action screws on the low E and A strings were seized with rust!
I asked what this was in the "What have you bought in the last 48 hours?" thread. I didn't scroll all the way through yet. I had just found out today that the fender forum is once again back on the straight and narrow. Yay !!!

Nice axe. I do have a love-hate with MM guitars.
The nut is a bit narrow for my tastes, but the thickness varies on the models - some are good some aren't.
My biggest beef with them is that the neck seems to be moved back in the guitar, so my left (fretting) arm feels cramped when I;m playing them.
This is with every one of their guitars, though not the basses.
I do have long arms anyway, (maybe that's why I like Gibson Firebirds too...)

Wow, it looks great! Honestly, I adore it, and I don't understand why you hate the 0.750" neck thickness. I mean, that's ok to me as most of the old guitars had the same thickness. If you are used to slimmer guitars, it will be a bit challenging for you. But, trust me, you'll get used to it pretty soon. However, if I were you, I wouldn't play that guitar. I would just keep it for a collection. My dad also used to play a Music Man Cutlass. He had a rock band, which wasn't that successful, so he wrote stock music to earn some money. He actually still does that.

Thanks! It's a really good guitar. I'm used to much larger and wider necks, but the neck finish, shape and stainless steel frets are so nice that the neck being so tiny isn't too bad. It's actually really nice around the 5th fret and above.
You inspired me to compare this guitar to my Strat. The upper bout strap button is in exactly the same spot as on my Strat, and the neck is actually shifted away from the body so that the 1st fret is actually about 3/4" further away from the body than on my Strat. The opposite of your concern. You should try a Cutlass.
