Kenny Wayne Tribut to Bryan Lee

On August 21st of 2020 my good friend, bluesman Bryan Lee, passed away, and I have to say that I spent a good part of my musician life working with and learning from Bryan. This tribute to him by Kenny Wayne Shepherd was really a nice recognition for my old friend.

I hope someone really listens to what Bryan says about experiencing failure...we’ve all been there.

Oh man, that's a shame. I didn't know that he had passed away.
I heard Bryan play many times when I live in NOLA. even wrote a song about him called Absinthe House.
    RIP Bryan

I only got to meet Bryan a couple of times, a great spirit.

My band opened for him, and I got to do sound for him on all of those occasions. He was a lot of fun to work with and great performer.

On top of all that, he was a truly great person, and I am better for having met him.

This coming July 10th, the city of Two Rivers, Wisconsin (Bryan’s home town) is recognizing him by declaring it Bryan Lee Day and dedicating a city park bench in his name. It will be a day of music that will wrap up with a great jam of blues artists. One of the featured bands is a group I put together of guys who worked with Bryan from his early days going back to 1960.

This was my last time on stage with Bryan when he received a Lifetime Achievement award from Big City Rhthym and Blues magazine in 2015 and he called me up to play with him and Westside Andy on harp.

This showed up as a memory today on FB - didn't realize this one was 8 years ago

I don't care what anyone says... Kenny is a hell of a guy. I've been following him, since he was just, coming up here in Shreveport like 30 years ago or so. I remember when his dad was still DJ Shotgun Ken Shepherd. One of the best we had around here. Ken was great.

That's a great tribute to Bryan by Kenny. From what I remember reading, he & Kenny were very, very close. I'm sorry for your loss, brother.
