I've been looking for a Lite Ash Strat for ages, and finally scored one for a good price. I'm not sure what color options they came in besides the clear, but this one has obviously been repainted in black with orange peel coverage all over. Its tolerable, but rough! I could probably wet sand and finish the job appropriately, but I want it back to original as close as possible

Anyway, I decided to strip the paint and go back to a clear. With that sorted, would the birdseye maple neck be structurally fine sanded down on the back? I prefer bare wood on necks, but not very familiar with birdseye. I've sanded down a Baja Tele (baseball bat) neck with no troubles so far. My concern is warping with no finish on the back of the neck.

Thanks everyone
