Well, finally worked up the courage to drill into the right Jazz Bass neck for the conversion to lefty--side dots. I used calipers to measure, and I got the first 3 perfectly lined up. I had to take an important call, and my son attempted to eye the measurements . He was off all over the place. Fortunately it's something that only my musician friends and I will ever see. And my son helped me in so many ways this past weekend that I couldn't get mad at him for it. His shortcut screwed him. He was sorry; why would I want to rub it in?

I'm going to put a Tusq nut on it. Should have it ready to play in a day or two. I had planned to put the AmPro JB neck on my Precision, but I was so in love with it and love the way it looks with a maple fb that I'll just keep the P neck on the PB and forget about the swap.

Set out to just buy the neck and saw such a great deal on these parts. And voila, a new bass. American, for about $800. It's a pretty sweet deal for a loaded AmPro bass.
