    RIP Mom

We had gotten a call yesterday that my mom was fading, she wasn't eating and had been sleeping all day. They were going to schedule a hospice consultation for Wednesday to see if she qualified for the next level of care.

My sister called about 45 minutes ago, my mom had just passed. She is done suffering there is no more pain.

I had a last visit with her in November, just before she got Covid. She was one of the first two patients at the facility to test positive and there were no more visits after that. Amazingly, the only thing she got was a slight temperature that lasted maybe a week. Many others there were not so fortunate.

Due to the pandemic, there will be minimal services. We will be meeting in the morning to start discussing the plans.

    Re: RIP Mom

Dan, I'm so sorry about your loss; I've read your posts about her, and I really am sorry.

I love my dear mother, and we lost here 2 years ago, and I've found a lot of comfort in thinking of both the funny and loved-filled time my sibs and our kids had with Mom. She could be a bitch too, and even those stories are funny to me. The point is, it gives me great comfort to celebrate her life and to remember the good things. It really helps with mourning. And it allows one to still love the departed and to feel they are still with us. Psyching yourself out isn't a bad thing.

Of course, now is a good time to grieve and you need that. You know the guys are here for you if you need to talk about it. I wish you a lot of strength. Bless you, Dan.

Sorry to hear this news Dan. I fear my Mom, with her rate of decline and in similar circumstances won’t be far behind. Tough times.

    Re: RIP Mom

    So sorry for your loss.

I lost my mom and dad within 8 months of each other, in 2018 and 2019; I know that feeling. My heart goes out to you and yours, and doubly so trying to figure out how to handle things with COVID limiting all plans.
