    Quartersawn and Plain Sawn Necks

I knew that quartersawn necks are stronger than plain sawn, but I didn't understand the meaning of quartersawn until now when I read up on it. Sure it cost more, but perhaps the extra strength is a plus with five strings pulling on the neck.

You can see the difference in grain--the G&L quartersawn is on the left. It's great that I could get the fretboard quartersawn too.

I have a quartersawn neck on my suhr. Its nice and straight. Only problem for me is that I can not use TI j344 strings on it because they just don't have enough pull on the neck to bring it flat from slight back bow.

That's new info for me. I'll watch out for it.

Don't think it will be a problem for you. The TIs are lower tension.
