    Well, It's Sunday Again (9/27)

I awoke early this morning, and have been fiddling around a bit and reading (a library hold just came through). It's funny how one can go from sleeping a solid eight hours one night to getting up after five the next. The human body is a mysterious marvel!

I suffered a rare Apple Crap yesterday; I got a notification on my work Mac that a security update was available, so I applied it. And everything went downhill from there. I've been running a backup all night because I may have to reinstall the OS, and what a pain that could be. This is my work Mac, and I have a course to teach this week, so I really want it to be running. It looks like I have my Sunday cut out for me.

Today is the last day of the ersatz baseball season for the team I root for. The whole thing has been a disappointment, and although I enjoy watching the game, it's seemed more like exhibition season on TV this year. Man, will I be glad when 2020 is over!

Last Sunday it was a leisurely day traveling by train, camera in hand. Today looks to be a cloudy, indoor day on the computer and in front of the TV. I hope everyone else has a good Sunday lined up...

The one thing I've really noticed since I retired seven years ago is that the usual sleep patterns of my working life are long gone. It used to be that, if I wasn't playing a gig, I'd sleep the usual 7-8 hours and get up at 4:30 AM for work on weeks days and then sleep to 7 or maybe 8 AM on a weekend day. Since retiring I find that some nights I'll sleep a couple of hours and get up around 1 or 2 AM and that's it for the night. I'm probably lucky if I now sleep 5 hours each night. Of well, it is what it is.

Ran a road rally yesterday with our Corvette club in the Kettle Moraine area of Wisconsin and had a beautiful day of fall colors. We managed to grab third place and it was a fun way to spend four hours driving a car you really enjoy.

Hope all have a great Sunday.

I rarely sleep a full night. My brain never stops racing so I struggle falling asleep. LAtely I put in a pair of earbuds and fall asleep listening to music. That helps a lot. Today we're having a very small gathering to celebrate Mrs. Junkie's 60th birthday. We're both a bit surprised she made it this far, but she's actually been doing well during COVID. Just her son, daughter-in-law, my daughter and a couple of grandkids.

Sciatica lately has cut drastically into how much I sleep.

Man, sleep has always been elusive for me. Takes forever for my brain to slow down to fall asleep and then I roll over and go back to sleep a dozen times before finally getting up. So, routine is key to me...and a couple of Aleve Nighttimes and reading for about an hour before hitting the sack. What is NOT good for me is having any alcohol in the evening. Yeah, I fall asleep quickly but get a terrible sleep and end up having a crappy day afterwards. Starting to be not worth it.

Gonna hop on the motorcycle soon and hit the hills for a couple of hours, staying out of the fall foliage hotspots.

Half overcast but mild right now as I finish my second coffee. It might be a hot afternoon, actually.

Bought a bottle of absinthe Thursday night; underestimated the wormwood and had a blast.

Then slept all day Friday because I do not bounce back.

Today after chores, I plan on spending some time on the new Casino. I really don't drink much, but I might it the absinthe again today. All things in moderation. Until Thursday, I hadn't had a good old face-numbing night in well over a year.

after last week's freeze out, we've had a few fairly decent evenings, I've eaten outside the last couple of nights, or would have Friday but there wasn't an open seat outside any of my favored places. People are definitely taking advantage of the weather. It's bound to turn soon, October is just around the corner and that can mean beautiful days and it can mean lots of rain.

I've got to figure out how I'm going to keep up my walking, with the amount I eat and drink I need about 5 miles a day. When we moved here, I figured I'd walk inside the building the full length of all 5 floors and that would give me about 2.5 miles. Now that Covid's here, that plan is shot and I'm not paying 25 bucks a month for the exercise room just to walk on the treadmill, if the room is even open. I have a gym membership at Planet Fitness and it's only 1.3 miles away. I just have to not be cheap and spend the gas to go there on those rainy days.

I woke up with the sinus headache that I went to bed with. It's been raining on and off so it's not a bad day to relax, watch the F1 race, a football game or two, set up the new Strat and PRS.

Reminds me of lyrics of a song I wrote in high school. “Teenage Wastecase”......went something like this - and far from politically correct...but I was 17!

    I’m a teenage wastecase
    it can’t be beat
i’ve got a case of beer on my backseat
    blah blah blah
im so wasted, I can’t feel my face
I’ve got empty bottles all over the place
Theres four on the floor, six in the back and twenty four more on the roof rack.

Only to be followed up with my hit single “Eat Me”.

Well last week I took some time off as my wife was away. Got to go to a clinic for a hobby I going to get into SASS shooting. Did well at the clinic. Ended up working more than desired during the time off. Got some things done around the place went shooting again yesterday morning for a bit, then today it was playing bass again for church.

Played a few acoustic sets with my band mates, all unplugged (acoustic guitars, acoustic bass -sounds like shite- and a cajón).I confess, I hate this kind of jam but what the hell, it was our singer's birthday and we wanted to surprise him. Of course, obligatory distancing, masks and alcohol were mandatory. But it was a cool evening

Sergio, several years ago I started bringing an acoustic to one of my brother in laws for his birthday, and singing "Las Mananitas". It was his families tradition, but his folks are gone, and his brothers live too far away.
This year, I waited until not a lot of people were around, (and several beers were had). My grand daughter recorded me, (it wasn't a great performance), but he enjoyed it anyway!
Maybe it really is the thought that counts!

Here's how it looked like after a few beers and a broken bass string
