Dating Old Custom Shop Texas Special Pups

Hi all, new member here. I am hoping someone may be able to help me date an old set of TS pups? Does anyone know if there is a way of dating them?

They are in an old style box which looks like the tweed amp covering. I have searched Google images but have not been able to find any matching images. The pups have never been out the box. I would upload a picture but haven't worked out how to yet.

    Thanks.

    I use Flickr.

I can steer you in the right direction to learn more about them.
Texas Specials first appeared in early 1992 with the introduction of the SRV artist model of Strat.
It was a curious choice given the fact that Stevie's actual pickups were not very similar Texas Specials but ... that's the choice that was made.
A choice made by family members if I recall correctly but I don't know if we were ever told which family members.
    Might have been Jimmy.
They may have been persuaded to go with TS if Fender needed some kind of special occasion to introduce them.
His actual pickups were probably closer to Fat 50s.
I suspect if you start researching the origins of the SRV model you may find more info on them.
    Thanks for the reply.

    Any help is appreciated.

Vaseline on a camera lens is an old trick used in the past with good effect. It serves two purposes:
    • It puts a soft, hazy look to the photo
    • It's a good way to lobby for a new lens

Trust me there is no Vaseline on the lens. The lens cover on my phone smashed an fell out. Unfortunately those are the best pics I can do.
